Hi Myüz Babes! First off, the biggest congratulations on your engagement - what a whirlwind of emotions you must be feeling. I remember my now husband asking me to marry him in Riding Mountain, somewhere very special to the both of us. Pure shock - even after 10 years he still knew how to surprise me. He planned for our dear photographer to capture the moment and our dogs to be there after he popped the question, my literal dream! I remember our drive home calling family and friends who were already aware of the surprise, showing off my gorgeous ring while the dogs were tuckered out in the back seat from all the excitement. I couldn't wait to start planning our big day!

It can be overwhelming to know where to start in your wedding planning journey, once I had the big ticket items checked off like deciding a date, the dress - she is a whole moment in and of herself ! Scratched the venue, photographer, videographer, florals, caterer etc.. off my list I knew I needed to secure Myüz for my skincare prep and makeup application!

Before I began working at Myüz, I was a longtime client. I always knew the importance of caring for my skin and I was determined to address my current skin concerns which at the time was mainly acne. I had a year and 5 months ahead of me so I wasted no time and perfected a routine that I hope will assist and guide you in your wedding skin prep.

"How often should I be coming in for a facial?"

The first question we get asked is "how often should I be coming in for a facial?" and the answer can very depending on your situation. However, in an ideal world we recommend coming in every 4-6 weeks. While this is a time and financial commitment it gives you and your esthetician time with your skin and the goals you are looking to achieve. Because weddings have a time stamp or countdown, this gives the best possible outcome without feeling rushed. If you are not able to come in for appointments as often, I recommend purchasing the Co2 lift mask which is available in our shop in singles or packs of three. "I've never had a facial!" or "what facial should I get?" is another common question we get asked. First if you've never had a facial we cannot wait for you to experience one with us! Leading into our second question about the type of facial you should book? While we have many to choose from that each have their own benefits, we do always recommend the Myüz Custom Facial as a fresh slate.

If this is your first appointment, we can book our Myüz Custom Facial -  First Time Client. This gives some extra time dedicated to going through your intake forms and gives your esthetician time to assess your skin before diving in! We also offer free skin consultations if you would prefer to come in and meet one of our estheticians before staring on your journey. From there, your goals can be specifically tailored to your situation and new treatments can be added to your routine. I started with a Myüz  custom facial and from there was able to move to a Biologique Recherche facial to help mirror the products I was using at home. 

From here, let's breakdown a few common skincare questions below!

When should you start a new skincare routine?

It is recommended to start a new skin care routine or adding in new products at least 8 months or longer before your big day. This gives the product time as skincare should never be treated as an overnight fix. While there are treatments and products you can incorporate into your getting wedding ready routine, remember to be patient with yourself and understand your skins needs in the given moment. Spray tan before my wedding?

Personally this was a big YES for me! I love the look of a glow and I am not one to overdo it in the sun. A spray tan gave me the ability to play around with the shades offered. I decided I would get a spray tan for each occasion held (engagement party, social, bridal shower, bachelorette) and I was so glad that I did! Not only was I able to decided how dark I wanted to go, it also gave me a good idea on how the tan sat on my body and how soon I should get it before the event. Which leads into prepping the skin...hydration is key and your spray tan should be your last and final step in all your beauty appointments! Make sure that you are following each pre and post care outlined by your service provider, from facials to nails and toes each has an important step in how your skin will react with the tan. If you are planning to soak up the sun outside, remember to always apply and reapply your sunscreen, practice sun safety and hydrate! - we don't need all your hard work going to waste! Regardless if you chose spay or sun - please use your sunscreen!! 

What about makeup? Does Myüz offer this service and can I book for my wedding/special occasions leading up to my day?

Yes ! In fact, I had a few makeup applications for the special occasions leading up to the day with Myüz by one of our fantastic artists. I felt so confident going into my day. Madi did a wonderful job getting my skin prepped and each makeup application with her I was able to prefect my look. When the big day arrived my makeup stayed put all  day into the night. I received so many compliments that still make my heart full to this day. My bridesmaids all looked gorgeous and the moms feeling there very best on such a significant day. Looking back on my photos I am so glad I put the time and effort into looking and feeling my best. Are there any additional treatments I can incorporate and receive at Myüz to help me look and feel my best? 

Brazillian Lymphatic Drainage: This was a service I incorporated monthly, it is a form of massage that offers a safe and effective approach for cleansing the body. It is aimed at stimulating the functions of the lymphatic system in order to eliminate harmful toxins and remove excess fluids accumulated in the blood, deeper tissues of the skin and muscles.

This service carries several benefits to your general health as well as your skins complexion such as reducing excess fluid retention while accentuating the contours of the body. By coming each month you are able to maintain the work done in the appointment and implementing on a healthy lifestyle is very important for overall results!

Microneedling: While this is a service I was not able to have done leading up to my day as my main goal was to clear up my active breakouts I was having at the time, I can provide some information on one of our popular services. Microneedling, reduces the appearance of acne, scars, even out skin texture, improve skin’s firmness, and give your skin a boost! By creating thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. I am now able to receive the service to focus on acne scarring and have a session in the books which I am so excited for! It is so important that you do not rush or skip over integral skin care before investing in microneedling, here at Myüz a consult is mandatory in order to book this service.
