Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture proactively supports healthy aging in a minimally invasive way. It is another wonderful alternative to the use of neuromodulators (Botox etc.), fillers, laser therapy, and other procedures used to rejuvenate the skin. Cosmetic acupuncture is largely focused on the face and neck; however, body points are used as well. A facial treatment can still benefit areas beyond the skin and complexion! Facial acupuncture improves circulation increases microcirculation, oxygenation of the tissues, and induces collagen production. Very, very thin needles are used, making this treatment very comfortable. The outcome is improved complexion, circulation, hydration, tone of the skin, and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is best to start proactively in your late 20s/early 30s and continue through your 80s, however you are welcome to explore the benefits of cosmetic acupuncture at any age. Dr. Lauren is trained in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture, a non-invasive form of cosmetic acupuncture that does not involve any threading.
THE PROCESS
Lay down, get comfy. Small needles are gently inserted into the skin at specific points along the body. The needles used are sterile and single use. Each treatment is individualized to the patient, with point selection determined by the practitioner based on the signs and symptoms discussed. Some points may be more tender, however often you feel very little, a slight poke if anything. Rest and relax while the treatment is delivered. Following a cosmetic acupuncture treatment, facial serums and moisturizers are applied.
