Naturopathic Medicine
Modern care rooted in traditional healing
Naturopathic medicine blends the wisdom of traditional healing systems with modern medical science. It focuses on treating the underlying causes of disease, not just the symptoms, supporting the body’s natural ability to heal and helping you reach a state of balanced, long-term wellness.
With an emphasis on whole person health, naturopathic care is personalized to your body, lifestyle, and unique concerns. Whether you're managing a chronic condition, navigating hormonal changes, or simply seeking more energy and balance, naturopathic medicine offers a proactive, preventative approach.
What Does Naturopathic Care Involve
A therapeutic plan from a licensed Naturopathic Doctor may include:
- Individualized diet and lifestyle recommendations
- Botanical (herbal) medicine
- Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Homeopathy
- Physical medicine and hydrotherapy
- Regenerative therapies
- Prescription medications like hormone therapy (in jurisdictions where permitted)
Naturopathic medicine can support both acute and chronic conditions, and it excels in preventative care, addressing imbalances before they become illness.
What Is the Training Behind Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) complete:
- A four-year accredited naturopathic medical degree, following a four-year undergraduate degree
- Two sets of national board examinations (NPLEX)
- Jurisdiction specific licensure and regulatory exams
This rigorous training ensures a strong foundation in diagnostics, clinical practice, and both conventional and complementary approaches to healthcare.
