Naturopathic Medicine

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is the blend of traditional forms of medicine with modern medicine. The goal is to treat the underlying cause of disease and support the body’s natural healing ability, leading to balanced physiology and reduction of symptoms and disease. With a focus on whole person health, Naturopathic Doctors provide personalized treatments for the individual. Naturopathic medicine can be used for both acute and chronic conditions and is a leader in preventative medicine.

Therapeutic plans from a Naturopathic Doctor often include individualized diet and lifestyle support. This is often combined with botanical medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture), homeopathy, physical medicine, regenerative medicine, hydrotherapy, and prescription medications like hormone therapy in jurisdictions with prescriptive rights.

Naturopathic Doctors attend a 4-year accredited naturopathic medical school following a 4-year Bachelor’s degree. They complete 2 sets of National board examinations and licensure exams within their jurisdiction.

Are Naturopathic services covered by insurance?

Yes! Naturopathic Medicine, like other paramedical services, are often covered by your insured benefits and/or health spending account! Plans will vary as to coverage, typically a % of the service will be covered up to a certain yearly maximum dollar amount. Coverage applies to Naturopathic consults (regular visits), acupuncture, and manual therapies. Services like microneedling with PRP receive partial coverage. You will receive an invoice after your appointment that provides all the details you will need to submit to your insurer. Labs (both regular bloodwork and specialty) and supplements are not typically covered.

Please note, we currently do not offer direct billing at Myuz.

If you have any questions about the scope of your coverage, we encourage reaching out to your plan provider.
