If I Had to Narrow Down my Makeup Kit to 7 Items...

If I Had to Narrow Down my Makeup Kit to 7 Items...

So you know how there’s the question, “If you could only where 1 makeup item what would it be?”, or, “If you were stranded on an island what one thing would you bring?”. Well I think that’s dumb because it’s never going to happen. But if I had to narrow down my whole makeup kit I could do it, but it would take 7 products.

To keep it simple I’d chose products that are easy to apply and really liven the face. Something that could give me a natural pretty look but tools that I could lay on the drama with if I wanted to.

7 Makeup Must Haves:

  1. Tinted Moisturizer with SPF - Tinted moisturizer is a genius invention and provides a light, everyday coverage - seriously it’s all you need. You can apply with a brush or just using your hands. Of course the SPF factor is non-negotiable.
Favourites;  iS Clinical Eclipse in Beige or Extreme Protect in Bronze and Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue SPF 30.

  2. Concealer - Coverage and correction over dark circles under the eyes can make a world of difference. I’d ditch the full coverage foundation in exchange for a good concealer. If I feel like I need extra coverage on top of the tinted moisturizer I apply a few dabs of concealer around the eyes and nose.
Favourites; NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer or MAC Pro Longwear Concealer.

  3. Mascara - I think mascara is probably top choice for most people’s ‘must-have-one-makeup-product’ so it definitely makes the list. We all know a little mascara can go along way in opening the eyes, especially if you put on a couple of layers for a more dramatic and grunge look.
My favourites - Chanel le volume or any of the Essence brand (found at Shoppers Drug Mart).

  4. Bronzer - Not totally clutch but it gives a really nice touch and can bring the face to life in a matter of seconds because it adds warmth. I’d sooner pair a tinted moisturizer with bronzer than doing a full foundation.
Favourite; Launga by NARS (in any form) or NudeStix Bondi Bae.

  5. Blush - You might be surprised at this choice but it’s a staple for me. I love any and all blushes! Plus they can double as an eyeshadow. Even if I am stranded and starving on a deserted island with just my makeup bag, I still want to LOOK alive, blush it is.
Favourites; seriously all of them, most universally used are Warm Soul by MAC and NARS Orgasm, Nudestix (any and all shades).

  6. Brow Gel - ahh, even my 5 year old daughter can apply brow gel. Not that she does but I’m just saying it’s an easy product to work with.
My favourites are Glossier Boy Brow and Kosas Air Brow.

  7. Lipgloss - Oh, I’m SO into gloss right now. Find the right shade suited for your skin tone and you’re set. I love a gloss because it can be dressed up or down and it doesn’t look crazy with light makeup.
Favourite; Right now I’m in love with is Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid lip balm in Nou Nou, Dior Addict Stellar Lip Gloss in 640 and for something just easy, Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Sweatmouth.

So your seven products might not be the exact same as mine but here is the takeaway. Find products that liven your face through warmth, tint and glow and take you seconds to apply. It’s really easy, it’s just a matter of finding the right tones for you.
