Is microneedling for you?

Is microneedling for you?

Maybe you’ve heard of at-home miconeedling that you can perform, but professional microneedling is the only way to have noticeable difference on the skin. At home tools are to help with product penetration but receiving microneedling at Myüz is going to take your skin to another level.

Let's go over everything about microneedling so you are well aware and prepared for the service.

How does it work?

When we perform the treatment, we are creating micro-injures in the skin which triggers the repair response. The puncture of the needle creates a microscopic channel which makes the body begin to produce collagen and elastin to repair the “damage”.

What are the results?

Typical results involve improved skin texture, the reduction of enlarged pores, improved skin elasticity, reduced fine lines, smoothing of scarring (melasma, hyperpigmentation and acne scars), stretch marks and an overall thicker, healthier skin.

Results will vary person to person and thus the number of sessions. After one session there will be a difference, after a number of sessions you'll be so happy. Regardless, you can't go wrong with the treatment as its providing facial rejuvenation. You can't over do microneedling, if you wanted to do a session every month for one year, you totally can, you won't harm the skin, especially with the use of SkinPen.

We recommend 3-6 sessions, 4 weeks apart for best results.

After you have completed your series, you can receive the treatment every 6 months or once a year. The results are long terms with microneedling. Every time you perform microneedling you are creating and increasing collagen production (this is the good stuff that decreases with age, sun, environment, diet).

Who can and cannot get microneedling?

  • If you are on accutane or have been, we will have to wait til you have been off the medication for one complete year.
  • If you are diabetic we cannot perform the treatment.
  • If you are pregnant, we cannot perform the treatment.
  • If you have active acne (open sores) then we suggest calming the skin first and then work on the scarring. If there are 2-3 pimples, we can go around them.

How to prep?

There isn't much to do but if you are using retinol or any topical prescriptions we ask that you do not use it for 24-48 hours prior to your appointment.

Which device do we use?

At Myüz we only use the best of the best, SkinPen. 14 stainless steel needles puncture the skin gently to create controlled micro-injuries (thousands of them) to stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. It rejuvenates your skin from the inside out.

The needles are nice and sharp whereas other devices the needles are bent, leading to scratching the skin and causing injury and harm. SkinPen is the only pen that is FDA approved and best of all, it is cordless and safe.

Benefits of SkinPen

Little Downtime: It is a perfect treatment for patients with a busy schedule. The amount of downtime that you need after microneedling varies from person to person but is typically 2 to 7 days max. You will be red for 24 hours and feeling sun burnt and perhaps a little pink the next day. It is recommended that you do not work out, wear makeup, or apply anything for at least 24 hours after my treatment. We also strongly advised to stay out of direct sunlight for the first week after treatment.

Natural Recovery: SkinPen’s mechanical process is versatile and usable year-round.

Safe for all Skin Types: Clinically proven effective on all skin types, Fitzpatrick 1 – 6. There is no scratching or marks or an increase in pigmentation on darker skin. There is no heat based modality involved, making this treatment perfect for all skin types without risk of hyper-pigmentation. I'm of East Indian decent and have had zero issues with the SkinPen. No hyperpigmentation and not a single damage done to my skin.

Safe and Sound: The First FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market

Comfortable: A light numbing cream will be used to minimize discomfort. It doesn't hurt, it's just the sound that is uncomfortable.

What products do you recommend post microneedling?

For 24 hours we suggest applying nothing to the skin. At the 24 hour mark you are welcome to go back to your normal skin routine. A few amazing products you may want to have on hand are Serum Biosensible, Placenta Serum or Sheald Recovery Balm. We suggest waiting on acids til day 5, like the collagen induction process happen and then you can go into your acids, retinols or retenoids.

Book your microneedling consultation online to discuss in person if you are the right candidate or by phone 204-306-8502.

Ooh, interesting. The fact that we can further enhance the structure of our skin texture via microneedling is something I never would’ve imagined. My birthday is coming really soon and to commemorate the occasion I plan to give myself some literal makeovers. Okay then, time for me to book a session with the right expert so I’d be able to achieve s nice result. https://theinjectorroomco.com/microneedling
